演 題：The Biomechanics and Mechanobiology of Primary Cilia
要 旨：Primary cilia have been implicated as a sensor of both chemical and mechanical signals in a number of cells and tissues including kidney, liver, cartilage, and embryos. In our laboratory we have demonstrated that this organelle acts as a mechanosensor in bone and have identified aspects of the intracellular signaling pathway activated by them. We have also shown that mutant mice with primary cilia missing in bone are less able to sense mechanical loading. Recently we have collected biophysical measurements of primary cilia deflections in real time and have created mathematical models of this deflection.
